RESEARCH PROGRAMS
Research focus
01
Cardiac Arrest & Resuscitation Science — We investigate the mechanisms, physiology, and clinical determinants of injury and recovery following cardiac arrest and resuscitation, including neurological, cardiovascular, and multi-organ outcomes.
02
Mitochondrial & Bioenergetic Medicine — We study mitochondrial dysfunction, cellular bioenergetics, intercellular mitochondrial transfer, and mitochondria transplantation as therapeutic strategies for ischemia-reperfusion injury.
03
Ischemia-Reperfusion & Redox Biology — We investigate oxidative stress, cytokine response, metabolic disruption, and medical gas biology as mechanisms and therapeutic targets following global ischemia-reperfusion.
04
Translational Therapeutics — We develop therapeutic concepts across mechanistic studies, cellular systems, small- and large-animal models, and clinical translation, with a focus on neuroprotection, cardiovascular recovery, and multi-organ recovery after acute critical illness.
05
Clinical Emergency & Resuscitation Research — We integrate physiological monitoring, biomarkers, clinical biospecimens, and real-world emergency care to identify clinically actionable predictors and therapeutic opportunities.
